Thank you for your letter of 22nd July to Mayle, in which you drew attention to an important error of faot which occurred in recent articles on Hong Kong in both the "TIES" and "DAILY MAIL"

In these cases we informally drew the attention of both papers to the point, but experience in these matters does not encourage us to expect much benefit to result from correcting the Press after misstatements have been published.

However, this particular error is one we should like to clear up; and, although we hardly think that an arranged Question and Answer would be altogether appropriate, a convenient opportunity of referring to the matter during discussion in the House might arise, and we will certainly keep the point in mind.
